Getting Started
What is preventive and aesthetic oral wellness?
It’s care focused on keeping your mouth healthy and your smile looking the way you want, rather than repairing damage after it happens. In practice that means meticulous professional dental cleaning, periodontal care, enamel and sensitivity support, and aesthetic services like professional teeth whitening — all built into one personalized plan.
Your First Blue Bliss Experience
An introduction to care, thoughtfully considered.
Your first visit to Blue Bliss is designed to be more than an examination. It is an opportunity to pause, be heard, and establish a deeper understanding of your oral health and what matters to you.
We begin with a private, unrushed conversation — exploring your health history, your concerns, your goals, and the way you want to experience your care. From there, we conduct a comprehensive oral wellness assessment, bringing together clinical evaluation, periodontal insight, preventive considerations, and aesthetic perspective to understand the complete picture of your smile.
We believe you should never have to navigate your oral health without understanding what is happening or why. We take the time to share our findings with you, answer your questions thoughtfully, and translate clinical information into something clear and meaningful.
Together, we shape a personalized path forward — one that reflects your individual needs, priorities, and long-term goals.
You won’t simply leave knowing what we found. You’ll leave knowing where you’re going.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly online.
I haven't been seen in years. Is that a problem?
Not at all, and you won’t hear about it. A long gap is one of the most common reasons people put off booking, which is precisely why our Comfort & Sensitivity Consultation exists. We start where you are.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, we do accept insurances in network and out of network. I am in network with Northeast Delta Dental, Guardian, and Maine Med. Fee for service or out of network.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Credit Card, cash payments, and check.
Professional Teeth Whitening
How long do professional whitening results last?
Most patients maintain their results for one to three years, though it varies considerably. Coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco shorten that window; a maintenance plan extends it. Our Whitening Maintenance service exists specifically to protect the investment.
Can I whiten if I have sensitive teeth?
In most cases, yes. Sensitivity during whitening is common and usually temporary, and it’s manageable with the right preparation — including desensitizing therapy beforehand and adjusted protocols during treatment. Our Whitening Sensitivity Support service is built around exactly this. If sensitivity has stopped you from whitening before, start with a consultation.
Will whitening work on my crowns, veneers, or fillings?
No. Professional whitening lightens natural tooth enamel only; restorations keep their original shade. This matters, because whitening surrounding teeth can make existing restorations look darker by comparison. We identify this at your consultation and plan around it before we begin.
How soon before my wedding should I whiten?
Earlier than most people think. Our Event & Wedding Smile service maps the timeline backward from your date, typically beginning several weeks out, so your result has settled and any sensitivity has resolved well before photographs.
Preventive & Periodontal Care
How often should I come in?
There is no universal answer, which is why we don’t give one. Your interval is set by your actual risk factors — periodontal status, enamel condition, home care, medical history, and habits. Some patients do well twice a year. Others benefit from more frequent visits.
What's the difference between a regular cleaning and periodontal maintenance?
A preventive cleaning maintains healthy tissue. Periodontal maintenance is for patients with a history of periodontal disease and involves more thorough instrumentation below the gumline, usually at a shorter interval, to keep inflammation controlled. Which one is appropriate is a clinical determination, not a preference.
What is laser bacterial reduction?
Laser bacterial reduction, or LBR, is an adjunctive dental laser treatment that may be incorporated into periodontal-focused care when clinically appropriate.
Enamel & Sensitivity
Can damaged enamel be repaired?
Enamel doesn’t regenerate the way other tissue does. But weakened enamel can take up minerals again through remineralization therapy, which can strengthen softened areas and, caught early enough, address the very earliest signs of decay before they become cavities. Whether it’s appropriate for you depends on what we find.
Why are my teeth sensitive to cold?
Common causes include enamel wear, gum recession exposing root surfaces, grinding, acid erosion from diet or reflux, and recent dental work. Tooth sensitivity is a symptom, not a diagnosis — identifying the cause is what makes treatment effective. Our Comfort & Sensitivity Consultation is designed for exactly this.
